-About the Artist-Doug Dabbs’ love for art started in elementary school when his third grade teacher, Mrs. Maddox, gave the class an assignment to read a book in their spare time. After convincing his teacher to let him read comic books, Doug’s obsession for comics began. His childhood and adult passion for comics not only turned into a love for all art genres, but led to his career of choice, sequential art. From comic book pages to concept design, Doug tries to express strong visual concepts such as storytelling, emotion, and acting, while keeping a simplicity that speaks to the viewer. Doug approaches each of his pieces with whole-hearted passion, regardless of the project or style of the job. With this approach he hopes the passion he puts into a piece will translate to the viewer. Whether it is rendering a piece of fine art, or telling a story through comics, Doug uses that passion to move and entertain the viewer, while giving a fresh perspective. Doug earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sequential art at the Savannah College of Art and Design-Atlanta. He is continuing his education at SCAD-Atlanta by working towards his Master of Fine Arts. He currently lives in Atlanta with his beautiful wife, Nicole. Doug solely survives on peanut butter and jelly, soccer, and regular viewing of The Wire. Doug can be contacted at dougdabbs@me.com |
